Temescal Wellness is a multi-state portfolio of cannabis companies. We operate dispensaries, cultivate cannabis plants, manufacture products, and develop product brands. Founded in 2015 by Ted Rebholz, Temescal is privately-held and based in Framingham, MA. As of 2018, Temescal runs two dispensaries and a cultivation-and-manufacturing facility in New Hampshire; runs three dispensaries and a cultivation-and-manufacturing facility in Massachusetts, with adult-use sales beginning in early 2019; runs one dispensary and a cultivation-and-manufacturing facility in Maryland; and owns two, revenue-generating cannabis product companies. Temescal Wellness will continue to expand its product brands and its cultivation, manufacturing and retail locations nationwide.

The Director of Operations for Temescal is ultimately accountable for assuring uninterrupted supply to patients and customers while minimizing waste and obsolescence.  This will be accomplished by establishing the strategic direction of the production and manufacturing teams and for leading the day-to-day operational activities in support of those strategic objectives.

The Director of Operations will make recommendations to the senior management team that will inform the most-significant decisions of the company. Successful candidates will provide leadership for production and manufacturing operations to achieve and maintain the highest standards of quality, patient satisfaction, service, and manufacturing capability to accomplish production/sales demand goals.

The Director of Operations will report to VP of Finance and Administration.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assure no interruptions in supply while minimizing waste and obsolescence.
  • Develop operational goals and initiatives that support corporate goals.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations to convert sales (demand) forecasts into production and manufacturing plans (supply forecasts).
  • Plan and monitor day-to-day operations to ensure adherence to production and manufacturing plans including coordinating operations with laboratory activities.
  • Lead manufacturing and operational management project teams to achieve departmental and corporate goals.
  • Monitor quality standards of products in accordance with all state regulations and prepare and maintain production reports.
  • Lead weekly/monthly meetings with the management team to review forecasts and align on supply/demand plans, new projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, analyze performance data, and coordinates cross-functional work teams to increase operational effectiveness.
  • Create strategies to improve the operational efficiencies between Supply Chain, Production, Sales Operations and Finance.
  • Work closely with Temescal dispensaries and the wholesale sales team to manage product supply to ensure timely delivery of Temescal products.
  • Maintain close communication and coordination with the patient facing side of Temescal’s business to assure alignment between Operations and Retail.
  • Ensure the operations function is aligned with Temescal’s strategy and core values.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed and partner with Compliance manager to ensure SOPs are compliant.
  • Identify and manage suppliers including negotiation of third party supply agreements.
  • Oversee facility supply and packaging needs and manage vendor relationships.
  • Partner with finance to develop and monitor efficient product costing including making recommendations for process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Production/Cultivation and the VP of Finance to set financial targets and determine labor resource needs and CAPEX requirements for the facilities (along with ROI business case). This includes identifying opportunities for capital/labor substitution.
  • Identify and propose CAPEX for machinery to match production plans.
  • Track and control unit COGS in alignment with business plans.
  • Assess corporate ERP design and needs. Oversee implementation of the ERP system.
  • Oversee logistics including tracking of shipments.
  • Be a problem solver and team player.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and team spirit.

Additional Requirements:

A minimum of 10 years of proven manufacturing management and leadership experience preferably within the greenhouse operations, agricultural biotechnology, pharmaceutical, cannabis, food, or beverage industries. A Bachelor degree in science, engineering or supply chain is preferred. Must possess the financial and operational acumen to manage, measure, and improve the operations effectiveness and profitability and drive accountability.  Strong communication skills required.  Ability to lead and develop structure while operating in a startup environment.  Experience in ERP implementation and third party selection and implementation (contract negotiations) is preferred.

Corporate Controller

Corporate Controller

As of 2019, Temescal runs two medical dispensaries and a cultivation-and-manufacturing facility in New Hampshire; runs three medical and adult-use dispensaries and a cultivation-and-manufacturing facility in Massachusetts; runs one dispensary and a cultivation-and-manufacturing facility in Maryland; and owns two, revenue-generating cannabis product companies. The Corporate Controller for Temescal is ultimately accountable for the company’s financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax compliance, and insurance. In addition, the Controller will contribute to various analyses, such as for capital expenditures and other opportunities that will affect cash flow.  This will be accomplished by establishing the direction and assuming leadership of the accounting team, leading the day-to-day accounting and quarterly activities, as well as leading and preparing for annual audits.

The Controller will make recommendations for the most-significant decisions of the company. Successful candidates will provide leadership for accounting operations to achieve and maintain the highest standards of return on financial assets by establishing accounting policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
  • Ability to compile and analyze the manufacturing activities and results from the company’s inventory and costing systems.
  • Provide leadership and direction for an annual financial audit while ensuring that schedules and results are delivered in a timely fashion.
  • Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; making investments.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Lead and participate in a timely monthly close including the delivery of financial results to top-management and outside lenders.

Process Engineer

Process Engineer

Integrative Health Products (IHP; www.integrativehp.com) develops cannabis product brands: we formulate recipes and create brand concepts and packaging that delight patients and adult-use customers. IHP is privately-held and currently sells its products in New Hampshire and Massachusetts through Temescal Wellness, its parent company. IHP will sell its products on a wholesale basis in these and other states, at Temescal Wellness and at other dispensaries. With a comprehensive suite of cannabis products, a track record of multiple new product launches, and profitable operations, IHP is well-positioned for growth throughout the United States and beyond.

The Process Engineer will lead the ongoing refinement of extraction techniques, of post-processing purification techniques, of product formulations, of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and of scale-up in design, training and on-site technical support for IHP licensees. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of chemistry and physics with an exposure to engineering, product development and manufacturing, as well as well-developed technical writing skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Work collaboratively and creatively with the IHP team to expand product lines, provide technical support to existing product lines, and to be a leader in innovating new products at a rapid pace.
  2. Complete assigned formulations development experiments and develop new hypotheses for formulations experiments.
  3. Contribute to experimental design for formulations and extractions.
  4. Test formulations against quality control and process validation procedures.
  5. Troubleshoot processing and production equipment for IHP licensees as necessary.
  6. Contribute creatively and technically to the scale-up engineering process.
  7. Compose, continuously improve and edit Standard Operating Procedures and training materials for products and methodologies and, as needed, deliver training to production staff and others.
  8. Assist with the design, layout, equipment selection of an extraction laboratory and formulations laboratory in the market that IHP serves.
  9. Effectively and efficiently use software and telecommunications tools, including spreadsheets, word processing, email, text, chat, webinars, seed-to-sale, enterprise resource planning and other software, etc., to document and communicate data and to convey ideas.
  10. Continuously research, using a variety of sources, new products, equipment, software and methodologies, to maintain cutting-edge expertise.
  11. Ensure that your work is compliant with the program regulations required by the specific jurisdiction you are working in at that time.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of BS/BA in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Formulations, Pharmaceutical Development, or other, related scientific and chemistry-based field
  • Two or more years of work experience in cannabis extractions and/or infusions; alternatively, three or more years of work experience in food chemistry and food product development.

General Summary:

The Retail Manager is responsible for the management and operation of a two retail dispensary facilities located in Hudson and Framingham, MA, pursuant to and in compliance with local and state laws and regulations, including 105 CMR 725 and 935 CMR 500.

Requirements shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
  1. Prior to receipt of final certificates of registration from the MA Dept. of Public Health, assisting with final fit-out of facilities, including SOP refinement and participation in state inspections to achieve final certificates of registration.

General Summary:

The Assistant Manager – Retail assists in the management and operation of a medical marijuana retail dispensary located in Framingham or Hudson, Massachusetts, pursuant to and in compliance with local and state laws and regulations, including 105A CMR 725 and 935 CMR 500. Temescal Wellness MA is a start-up business operating in an ever-changing regulatory landscape, and as such, the following job description may not include all necessary tasks. All employees will be expected to pitch in, as needed, to ensure the successful start-up and operation of each facility.

Requirements shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
    1. STAFFING: Assist hiring, training and supervising of dispensary staff such as Patient Service Associates.
    2. INVENTORY CONTROL

a.Develop and maintain facility-specific policies and procedures to ensure a safe, compliant chain of custody for all medical marijuana products:

i. Transport/delivery/receipt of delivery QA/QC and security

ii. On-site inventory QA/QC and security

b.Adhere to all standards pertaining to safety and cleanliness, and guidelines for medical marijuana and medical marijuana infused products handling and storage (e.g., OSHA, ADA, Serv-Safe)

c. Ensure all incoming and outgoing inventory complies with packaging and labeling requirements.

d. Liaise with the Sales Manager and production teammates to communicate re-stocking needs, to ensure consistent stock is available to patients and support long-term production planning.

  1. CUSTOMER SERVICEa. At the point of sale, comply with program regulations, including HIPAA guidelines, relating to retail operations/dispensing, patient data confidentiality and patient database maintenanceb. Ensure “seed-to-sale” (inventory management) software is used in compliance with all regulationsc. Qualifications include:

The Patient Service Associate is responsible for the service of medical cannabis patients assisting the Management team in all facets of dispensary operations of a retail facility located in Hudson or Framingham, MA, pursuant to and in compliance with local and state laws and regulations, including 105A CMR 725 and 935 CMR 500. The Patient Service Associate position is designed to provide the individuals that we serve, across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with a consultative buying experience that focuses on the needs, wants and aspirations of the patient.   1. Assisting qualifying patients and caregivers in obtaining their cannabis/cannabis infused or medicated products

General Summary:

Duties & Responsibilities

General Summary:

The Production Supervisor – Processing is responsible for overseeing extraction and infusion programs in a medical marijuana production facility in Worcester, Massachusetts pursuant to and in compliance with local and state laws and regulations, including especially MA CMR 725 et seq. This individual is the manager-in-charge of a range of day-to-day tasks at one facility. The Production Supervisor – Processing will, based on the production schedule, identify work tasks, schedule, train, and manage Production Associates, and concisely and clearly communicate needs to senior management for staffing, supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
        1. Ensure staff compliance with all applicable government regulations, Temescal standard operating procedures(SOPs), including sanitation, security, workplace safety, confidentiality, and seed-to-sale software requirements, among others.
        2. Plan and facilitate the start-up of the Worcester processing program, to include extraction and infused product manufacturing programs, and recipe/formulation research and development.
        3. Contribute to start-up inspections required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) to ensure a final certificate of registration is achieved.
        4. Manage, train and schedule a team of processing Production Associates. Manage production scheduling and organization to precisely project all processing needs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to meet retail and wholesale demand. Contribute to SOP development and training materials.

General Summary:

The Production Supervisor (Cultivation) is responsible for overseeing a 15,000 square foot medical cannabis production facility in Worcester, Massachusetts pursuant to and in compliance with local and state laws and regulations, including especially MA CMR 725 et seq. This individual is the manager-in-charge of a range of day-to-day tasks at one facility. The Production Supervisor (Cultivation) will, based on the production schedule, identify work tasks, schedule, train, and manage production associates, and concisely and clearly communicate needs to senior management for staffing, supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
          1. Ensure staff compliance with all applicable government regulations, Temescal standard operating procedures(SOPs), including sanitation, security, workplace safety, confidentiality, and seed-to-sale software requirements, among others.
          2. Plan and facilitate the start-up of the Worcester cultivation program, to include sourcing of medical cannabis genetics; allocation of resources and production planning; and participation in inspectional protocols required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) to ensure a final certificate of registration is achieved.
          3. Manage, train and schedule a team of production associates. Manage plant scheduling and organization to precisely project all cultivation needs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to keep plants healthy and expenses . Contribute to SOP development and training materials.
          4. Manage and maintain a wide array of supplemental lighting systems; environmental control systems; irrigation systems; nutrient systems; and other similar systems utilized in the cultivation and processing of cannabis and its by-products. Assist with facility maintenance and troubleshooting.
          5. Perform all the tasks related to the cultivation of medical cannabis plants, and train and oversee others in performing those tasks, including: tissue culture, cloning, transplanting, feeding plants, defoliation, super cropping, topping, flushing, pest monitoring, foliar and preventative sprays, harvesting, trimming, packaging, waste disposal and inventory management.
          6. Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment.
          7. Plan, implement and document an Integrated Pest Management plan. Continually enhance knowledge of plant diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment options. Managing and modifying nutrient regimens including both soil-based and hydroponic systems.
          8. Maintain an accurate database, analyzing each individual strain from clone to flower to harvest to trimming and curing, using seed to sale software and associated tracking spreadsheets.
          9. Monitor and support employee safety, morale and productivity. Assist with the employee life cycle, including recruiting, interviewing, training, online scheduling, time and attendance and performance management.
          10. Aid staff in preparing for audits and, as needed, assist state and local governmental auditors.
          11. Effectively and efficiently document, collaborate and persuade by using software and telecommunications tools, including spreadsheets, word processing, email, calendars, text, chat, webinars, seed-to-sale and other software, etc.
          12. Perform the following physical tasks:a. Stand and walk for extended periods of time;b. Bend, squat and stoop, twist and bend the neck and waist and reach above and below shoulder height to grasp objects;c. Bend and lift loads of up to one hundred (100) lbs; andd. Use hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation;
