Massachusetts

Sales Director

Temescal Wellness is a multi-state portfolio of cannabis companies. We operate dispensaries, cultivate cannabis plants, manufacture products, and develop product brands. Founded in 2015 by Ted Rebholz, Temescal is privately-held and, as of 2018: runs two dispensaries and a cultivation-and-manufacturing facility in New Hampshire; is building-out three dispensaries and a cultivation-and-manufacturing facility in Massachusetts; runs one dispensary and a cultivation-and-manufacturing facility in Maryland; and owns two, revenue-generating cannabis product companies. Temescal Wellness will continue to expand its product brands and its cultivation, manufacturing and retail locations nationwide.

The Sales Director will focus on maximizing sales and gross profit in Massachusetts and will report to the CEO-Founder. The Sales Director will work with executive management to set strategy, objectives and targets, will work independently to identify target accounts and win Purchase Orders, and will collaborate with sales, marketing and production teammates to ensure satisfaction of all accounts.

The Sales Director will be a self-starter with a proven ability to win new accounts with new consumer products. The Sales Director will also have a positive track record of working with production and fulfillment colleagues to maintain customer satisfaction. The candidate will earn compensation that is closely tied to her or his performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sales – Understand relevant regulations and retail and wholesale account product needs; identify leads; win meetings; generate Purchase Orders and long-term contracts; identify and preempt ongoing account needs. The Sales Director will sell intermediate inputs (e.g., cannabis flower, trim and kief; extractions) to processors and finished goods (e.g., packaged flower; extractions; infusions, including edibles, capsules and transdermal patches) to retailers.
  • Customer Service – Work constructively with production and fulfillment to meet account expectations; communicate sales forecast needs for all accounts over a multi-month timeframe.
  • Strategy – Project sales, set targets, contribute to decision-making with market and competitive intelligence and generate ideas for: customer segmentation; emerging preferences; new promotions; operating efficiencies to strengthen gross profit; and new products.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Several years of outside, business-to-business sales, with a demonstrated track record of winning new retailers and / or manufacturers as customer accounts. Experience in a sales role in health care, consumer packaged goods or in the legal cannabis industry is preferred.
  • Passion to work in an industry with positive societal impact.
  • Self-starter who understands relevant state regulations and product categories. Highly- motivated, resourceful and comfortable working in an unstructured, entrepreneurial environment. Tenacious and creative.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a variety of new relationships, both with sales prospects and with other industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to project sales, set targets and to work proactively with production and marketing support resources to reach sales and gross profit objectives. Does not merely identify problems, but formulates appropriate solutions, builds consensus and ensures accountability. Able to persuade management peers to take a recommended course of action. Excellent verbal and writing skills and can exercise appropriate business judgment and tact to deal effectively with a wide range of issues. Highly-responsive, with strong attention to detail and a consistently right-sized sense of urgency.
  • Mastery of, or willingness to learn, various software programs, including especially cloud-based productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Google calendar, Drive).
  • Can pass criminal background checks typically required by state cannabis regulations.

Compensation & Location

Compensation will include a base salary and commissions, with On-Target Earnings (OTE) bonus potential, plus employer-subsidized medical, vision and dental benefits.

Temescal Wellness is already a multi-state operator that will continue to expand into other states and high performers may, over time and with consistently superior performance, be eligible for profit- sharing. For non-hourly employees, Temescal has an unlimited PTO policy.

General Summary:

The Manager, Compliance will have lead responsibility for the efficient and compliant on-boarding and renewal of employee and company paperwork. The Manager, Compliance is a trusted resource on state regulations, serving as a resident Subject Matter Expert. The Manager, Compliance will be obsessed with efficient processes and with serving internal “customers”, and will share our passion for wellness and our commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
    1. Comply with all applicable government regulations and Company policies and procedures, and ensure accountability for same among staff, including sanitation, security, workplace safety, confidentiality, and seed-to-sale software requirements, among others.
    2. Engender a positive, “start-up-ready” culture among all teammates of excellence, analytical rigor, polite persistence, and respectful candor.
    3. Serve fellow employees as an in-house expert on state regulations. Provide research and analysis, balancing the requirements of regulators, the operating needs of the business, and the preferences of patients.
    4. Assist with employee on-boarding, and with subsequent renewals, including:

a. State-specific background checks, drug tests and fingerprints

b. Company background checks

c. Employee emergency contact info, I-9 and copies of IDs

d. Employee acknowledgements (e.g., Handbook, company policies)

e. Coordinate enrollment in employee benefits

    1. Coordinate various other items for new employees (e.g., building access controls, such as key fobs; business cards; email and digital calendar accounts; Sensient).
    2. Keep employees and managers informed on progress of on-boarding new employees and renewals.
    3. Maintain secure paper and electronic copies of all relevant records.
    4. Maintain “Master File” of SOPs, make edits as instructed, and provide documents as needed for license renewals.
    5. Work with third-party vendors, as needed. Help select and implement software (e.g., Complia, Symplifya).
    6. Aid staff in preparing for audits and, as needed, assist state and local governmental auditors and law enforcement with their audits.
    7. Assist with developing and providing training, and with oversight and audits to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
    8. Lead by example in identifying process improvement opportunities, proposing solutions, building consensus and helping to implement agreed-upon changes. Present findings and recommendations, including expected outcomes and implementation plans, to management and staff in a concise and persuasive manner. Effectively and efficiently document, collaborate and persuade by using a wide range of audio and visual communication tools, including spreadsheets, word processing, email, calendars, text, chat, webinars, seed-to-sale and other software, etc.;
    9. Perform the following physical tasks:

a. Stand and walk for extended periods of time;

b. Bend, squat and stoop, twist and bend the neck and waist and reach above and below shoulder height to grasp objects;

c. Bend and lift loads of up to fifty (50) lbs; and

d. Use hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation;

General Summary:

The Retail Manager is responsible for the management and operation of a two retail dispensary facilities located in Hudson and Framingham, MA, pursuant to and in compliance with local and state laws and regulations, including 105 CMR 725 and 935 CMR 500.

Requirements shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
  1. Prior to receipt of final certificates of registration from the MA Dept. of Public Health, assisting with final fit-out of facilities, including SOP refinement and participation in state inspections to achieve final certificates of registration.
  2. Hiring, managing and supervising dispensary staff.
  3. Ensuring “seed to sale” software is used in compliance with program regulations.
  4. Start-up and on-going training/mentoring of dispensary staff.
  5. Overseeing dispensary openings and closings and protecting dispensary assets by following Temescal Wellness operational policies and procedures.
  6. Complying with program regulations as it relates to retail operations/dispensing, handling of all patient data and maintaining of patient database.
  7. Dispensary and staff scheduling, retail sales analysis and reporting, managing to target margin and labor metrics.
  8. Maintain well-stocked and beautifully merchandised dispensary.
  9. Uphold all standards pertaining to dispensary cleanliness and Serv-Safe guidelines for infused products handling.
  10. Maintain store security/building security and cash handling.
  11. Initiate seamless customer service by making every effort to find a product for patients if items are not in stock.

The Assistant Manager – Retail assists in the management and operation of a medical marijuana retail dispensary located in Framingham or Hudson, Massachusetts, pursuant to and in compliance with local and state laws and regulations, including 105A CMR 725 and 935 CMR 500. All employees will be expected to pitch in, as needed, to ensure the successful start-up and operation of each facility.

    1. STAFFING: Assist hiring, training and supervising of dispensary staff such as Patient Service Associates.
    2. INVENTORY CONTROL

a.Develop and maintain facility-specific policies and procedures to ensure a safe, compliant chain of custody for all medical marijuana products:

i. Transport/delivery/receipt of delivery QA/QC and security

ii. On-site inventory QA/QC and security

b.Adhere to all standards pertaining to safety and cleanliness, and guidelines for medical marijuana and medical marijuana infused products handling and storage (e.g., OSHA, ADA, Serv-Safe)

c. Ensure all incoming and outgoing inventory complies with packaging and labeling requirements.

d. Liaise with the Sales Manager and production teammates to communicate re-stocking needs, to ensure consistent stock is available to patients and support long-term production planning.

  1. CUSTOMER SERVICEa.   4. Compliance with program regulations as it relates to retail operations and to the dispensing of medicated product to include the use of seed to sale software (BioTrack THC)
  5. Maintenance of a well-stocked and beautifully merchandised dispensary

General Summary:

The Extractions Production Specialist position is responsible for the primary day-to-day production duties of a state of the art medical cannabis production laboratory, reporting to the Extractions Team Lead. These duties include extraction, formulation, infusion, data tracking, cleaning, packaging, and labeling. The Production Specialist has responsibility and takes an active role in:

General Summary:

The Production Supervisor – Processing is responsible for overseeing extraction and infusion programs in a medical marijuana production facility in Worcester, Massachusetts pursuant to and in compliance with local and state laws and regulations, including especially MA CMR 725 et seq. This individual is the manager-in-charge of a range of day-to-day tasks at one facility. The Production Supervisor – Processing will, based on the production schedule, identify work tasks, schedule, train, and manage Production Associates, and concisely and clearly communicate needs to senior management for staffing, supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
        1. Ensure staff compliance with all applicable government regulations, Temescal standard operating procedures(SOPs), including sanitation, security, workplace safety, confidentiality, and seed-to-sale software requirements, among others.

The Production Supervisor (Cultivation) is responsible for overseeing a 15,000 square foot medical cannabis production facility in Worcester, Massachusetts pursuant to and in compliance with local and state laws and regulations, including especially MA CMR 725 et seq. This individual is the manager-in-charge of a range of day-to-day tasks at one facility. The Production Supervisor (Cultivation) will, based on the production schedule, identify work tasks, schedule, train, and manage production associates, and concisely and clearly communicate needs to senior management for staffing, supplies and equipment.
