What is Live Resin?
As with all concentrates, resin is made from an extraction of THC from the cannabis plant. However, unlike other concentrates or distillates, resin is made by first freezing the plants to a very specific temperature. This temperature is maintained throughout the extraction process. As this is done with live, fresh frozen cannabis and not dried and cured cannabis, the resulting extract has higher terpene levels, giving live resin a robust and distinctive flavor and aroma.
Once the extract is processed, the result is a thick, granular-looking amber to gold-colored concentrate. It is similar in consistency to raw honey and can be used with a dab rig or dab pen, which is similar in design to a vape pen.
As with all types of
cannabis concentrates, there are differences in products between manufacturers and brands. Just keep in mind, the “live” term refers to the fact the cannabis is fresh frozen for increased terpene quantity and quality.
